How many returning military servicemembers will have the symptoms of Post-traumatic Stree Disorder (PTSD) over the next ten years? How will VA treat is now? Will they continue to deny treatment/disability?
I was reading about the South Carolina WWII Vet who committted suicide outside the ER entrance of the Greenville, SC Veteran's Affairs Hospital. I could not help but feel heartbroken for this soldier and his family. Barack Obama spoke about the story while he was running for President, stating it was an outrage.
I am not sure the VAMC's are anymore equipped now knowing symptoms fit a diagnosable illness. There are many treatment options available. Will they allow servicemembers to access them without repercussions to their career?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is helpful used frequently to help the symptoms. EMDRIA is the international organization that EMDR trained clinician belong to and the organization maintains a list of those who are trained and advanced trained (certified) professionals. EMDR.org (EMDR Institute) trains clinician in the imformation processing theory and proper use of the technique.
Veterans---you do not have to suffer! Please find the right assistance for you! Keep looking until you find it. You deserve to live an optimal life, especially after putting your life on the line for your country.
